Need time away to focus on yourself and renew your WLS commitment?
The NAWLS Renewal Weekend 2008 is sold out!. To be added to the waiting list, go to the retreat information page! Renewal Weekend 2008 is a small, intimate retreat for women who have had weight loss surgery, and who are struggling to stay on track. This retreat is intended to be a safe, nonjudgmental place for you to discover your best path to peace with food, the scale, your body, and your life. If you want to regain your hope, Renewal Weekend 2008 is for you. ____________________________________________Are you worried you will regain your weight after weight loss surgery? Most people who have RNY gastric bypass, the lapband procedure, duodenal switch, or some other type of weight loss surgery (WLS), have one thing in common: The fear of not losing all of their excess weight or of regaining the weight they lost. Often you experience a "honeymoon" period following WLS, but it doesn't last forever. One of the reasons the honeymoon ends is you've lessened your ability to overeat, but you have not figured out how to deal with life without turning to food for comfort. A void exists where food used to go. Do you miss the comfort of food? Some people who have WLS spend hours and hours thinking about food, planning what they'll eat, and waiting eagerly to eat. Some feel guilty when they eat, hate their body, and/or let the scale determine how they feel about themselves on a given day. Do you obsess about some of these things? What would you do with your life if you did not obsess about food and food-related issues? How would you fill your time and your thoughts? To make a healthy, long-lasting recovery after WLS, you must come to terms with your obsession with food, your body, and/or your weight. It's time to shape a new life that will support your new goals. But how can you create that life? I founded the National Association for Weight Loss Surgery to help people end their obsessions with food, body, and weight. I want to help people shape a life they love, with complete freedom from obesity. We offer a wonderfully supportive community through our discussion forums, along with useful articles, downloads, teleclasses, and other great resources. Let us help you fill that food void with positive things, so that you can achieve long-term freedom from obesity.
